The Process and Next Steps

Since 2018, Franklin Township Community School Corporation has worked with the Skillman Corporation, specializing in project administration and construction management, to conduct a thorough review and assessment of the condition of repair/upgrade/replacement needs of FTCSC, focusing in particular on Franklin Central High School, which is approaching 50 years old.

In addition to closely monitoring Franklin Township new home construction and population growth and monitoring its own enrollment growth, FTCSC in 2018 engaged the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University to conduct a demographic survey.

In 2019, Baker Tilly conducted a community survey, gauging Franklin Township residents’ awareness of issues and challenges facing FTCSC.

In 2020, the school corporation implemented a grade reconfiguration to maximize available space. In addition, FTCSC added space to the junior high and is in the process of expanding Kitley Intermediate School.

FTCSC is now beginning a community-focused process to build upon the work done in recent years to determine the future of our district. This process will include community engagement sessions, in which residents will work together with district leadership to identify solutions to the challenges we currently face as well. Please watch for additional information throughout this summer and fall.
