May 22, 2023 – Franklin Central High School is proud to announce the appointment of Kyle Ballard as the new head basketball coach for the Franklin Central Flashes.
Ballard joins Franklin Central High School after a tenure at Triton Central that saw the program go from a 5-18 record in 2020 to 17-7 in 2023. Along the way, Ballard led the Tigers to two consecutive sectional titles (‘21 and ‘22). Ballard, who was named Shelby County Coach of the Year in 2020, leaves Triton Central with a 48-46 mark in 4 years at the school.
Coach Ballard on being named head coach at Franklin Central:
“My coaching career began in 2009 as a volunteer for Mark James at Franklin Central, my wife’s alma mater. Since then, it’s held a special place in my heart. Franklin Central is one of the few programs in the state I considered pursuing. We are ready to work for Franklin Township and the students/families we serve.”

“We are excited to have Kyle Ballard join the FC Family. His connection to the community will be invaluable as he begins to rebuild the culture at FC. His up-tempo style of play will be exciting for our players and fans. FC basketball will be rejuvenated under Coach Ballard’s leadership. We are anxious to get started!”
