FTCSC Online Learning Plan

FTCSC Online allows students who cannot attend school physically (due to medical conditions or parent choice) the opportunity to remain engaged in learning while progressing appropriately through the Indiana Academic Standards.  This online option will allow students to receive instruction of essential skills and standards via a highly qualified teacher and/or a virtual learning platform. Daily attendance (via logging in online) is REQUIRED, all assignments will REQUIRE a submission, and students WILL RECEIVE grades for assignments and assessments.  Course credit will be granted when applicable.

FTCSC Online requires a 9-week commitment for those parents opting in. Students who initially attend school physically but are excluded due to a positive COVID-19 test or onset of COVID-19 symptoms will continue to receive instruction through their classroom teacher.

Pre-School: Preschool students who are eligible to receive special education services under the provisions of an IEP can elect to participate in the online instructional program. Instruction will be delivered through a weekly lesson plan with activities to develop academic skills, self-help skills, motor skills, language, and play. This will follow the scope and sequence of our research-based curriculum, Big Day Pre-K. Additionally, a teacher will consult with parents weekly to provide supports and activities specific to your child’s individual needs and goals. We will supplement with videos of lessons from the teacher as well as video sessions to interact with your child.

Elementary (K-3): Students will receive instruction for language arts and math.  Social studies and science will be exploratory. This instruction will consist of virtual and recorded lessons, daily assignments, checks for understanding, and assessments for each of the subjects through Google Classroom via an online instructor.  If the student returns to school during this school year, the student will be placed with their assigned teacher at their homeschool. Related Arts will not be part of the online option.

Intermediate (4-6):  Students in grades 4-5 will receive instruction for language arts, math,  social studies and science.

Students in 6th grade students will receive instruction via a dedicated classroom teacher (if enrollment allows), or via Edmentum, in all 4 core classes (Math, Language, Science, and Social Studies) and select elective courses (PE and Visual Arts).  Edmentum is a research-based online curriculum that mirrors the Indiana State Standards and the FTCSC Curriculum Maps.  If the student returns to school during this school year, the student will be placed with their assigned teacher at their homeschool.

Secondary 7-12): 7th-12th grade students will receive instruction via a dedicated classroom teacher (if enrollment allows), or via Edmentum, in all 4 core classes (Math, Language, Science, and Social Studies) and select elective courses (PE and Visual Arts).  Edmentum is a research-based online curriculum that mirrors the Indiana State Standards and the FTCSC Curriculum Maps.  Students will be assigned to a teacher whether instruction will be delivered by a teacher, Edmentum, or a combination of both.
