A Message from Star Express Child Nutrition

FREE AND REDUCED MEAL APPLICATIONS:
Free and Reduced Priced Meal Applications are open! Please go to www.ezmealapp.com to apply. We encourage all households that feel they qualify to apply before the start of the school year to avoid any unpaid meal charges.

Star Express Child Nutrition Programs would like to thank all of the Franklin Township Community School Corporation families for supporting us in the 2021-2022 school year. As many of you are aware, the school meals program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Star Express has been operating with the use of a federal waiver that allowed us to feed every child for free through the end of this school year. The use of this waiver will not be available after this school year, and Star Express will return to the traditional eligibility requirements for free, reduced, and paid meals. This means that meals for School Year 2022-2023 will be charged at the paid, reduced, and free rate based on your students’ eligibility.

Meal prices for the 2022-2023 School Year:

Elementary – $1.75 (Breakfast), $2.65 (Lunch)

Intermediate, FCJH, and HS – $1.75 (Breakfast), $2.75 (Lunch)

Reduced Benefits (All Grades) $.30 (Breakfast), $.40 (Lunch)

Households are encouraged to apply for Free or Reduced Meals before the start of the school year to avoid unpaid meal charges. Students who are not approved for free or reduced-price meal benefits before the beginning of the school year will be classified as paid status, and meal charges may accumulate starting on the first day of school. Meal charges accrued before the approval of a meal benefit application will be the responsibility of the household.

Low Balance and Negative Balance reminders are automated and sent twice a week to households via text and email. Households are also encouraged to utilize www.ezschoolpay.com to set up online payments, track purchases, and set custom notifications for low balances.

Notifications of these determinations will be sent to the email on file with the school district.

You do NOT need to complete an application if: You receive notification that your child(ren) are directly certified. You know your household does not qualify for meal benefits. (Please have money in your child’s account on the first day of school.)All questions concerning Free and Reduced Meal Applications can be directed to Dawn McCrory, Operations Specialist, at dawn.mccrory@ftcsc.org or 317-803-5058.
