New Dual Language Program

Franklin Township is excited to announce the new Dual Language program that will begin next year at Thompson Crossing Elementary. The Township received a grant from the Indiana Department of Education earlier this year and is currently in the planning stage. The program will begin the 2021-2022 school year.

The dual-language program will consist of two classes at Kindergarten and will be using the 50/50 model with Spanish as the partner language. Each class will have 50% native English speakers and 50% native Spanish speakers. Students in the program will spend half of their day being taught in Spanish and half in English. Currently, the program will be offered to Thompson Crossing families only. An informational meeting will be held soon. The other Kindergarten classes will continue as they have before in English.

Anyone wishing to learn more about the Dual Language program or become involved can contact Dr. Lynlie Schoene, Chief Innovation Officer of Franklin Township Community School Corporation at lynlie.schoene@ftcsc.org, or Beth Garyson, ELL Coordinator of Franklin Township Community School Corporation at elizabeth.garyson@ftcsc.org.
